How it all started...

In 1988 three regional tyre specialist joined forces in order to be able to provide their customers with an optimal service, not only at a regional level, but at a national and international level as well. The European unification only accelerated this process. Not only was the procurement advantage emphasised, but service, customer-related know-how and market know-how as well.

René van Maasakkers graduated at the University of Tilburg with a final thesis of a research of the consumer market, the developing lease companies and the requirements of logistics service providers. The outcome resulted in an international client-oriented concept, which was introduced into the market on 10 Augustus 1989 in Alkmaar, with the name Profile Tyrecenter. The Profile Tyrecenter cooperation had 27 branches.

In 1989 Profile Tyrecenter increased its number of branches to 44. By means of Euroteam Express Bandenservice, an international car trouble service for the transport sector was established. More and more lease companies became interested in Profile Tyrecenter, and the first service contracts were entered into in the beginning of 1990.

For a number of family businesses it was not easy to leave the old name behind. This is why the previous name was often used in combination with the name ‘Profile Tyrecenter’. As such long-time customers kept coming to their own tyre service company and the advantages of the new national Profile Tyrecenter network was capitalised.

During the first years following the establishment significant investments in national campaigns were made to promote the brand name. The commercial with the American voice (‘baiter in bènden’), which has not been used since 1999, is still appealing the imagination.

Providing quality and service is exemplary for the Profile history. As such the Profile Tyrecenter branches were the first within the tyre industry to be ISO 9002 certified. In the mean time Profile Tyrecenter is ISO 9001 certified (international ISO certification) and the organisation is audited by Lloyd’s twice a year.

Profile Tyrecenter devotes significant attention to quality and training of its employees through the Profile Academy, an extensive training program in the field of product training, commercial and technical training.

Profile Tyrecenter Belgium

In 1996, an independent Profile Tyrecenter affiliate in Belgium was established. Profile Tyrecenter is well represented in Flanders. In the Walloon provinces of Belgium, Profile Tyrecenter works in close cooperation with the Passion Pneu network. Currently Profile Tyrecenter in Belgium has over 30 associated branches and the network will be expanded even further.

In 1998 the Profile Tyrecenter retail formula was launched. This formula, related to tyre and car service, is explicitly focussed on the market for passenger cars and vans. By expanding the service with small maintenance services and major overhauls, customers have the possibility to have nearly all works on their cars performed by Profile Tyrecenter.

Globalisation and start in Romania

The year 2000 marked a new era for Profile Tyrecenter. Under the management of the new CEO the strategy and organisation structure was tuned to the new Europe and became a strong efficacious holding.

In 2003,Profile Investments was established. Profile Tyrecenter Investments can offer its franchisees additional services during start-up, succession or take-over. Currently Profile Investments has an interest in a number of Profile Tyrecenter companies. Due to the fact that existing companies opened new branches, Profile Tyrecenter had over 130 branches in 2005.

On the first of January 2005, Profile Tyrecenter Holding N.V. was renamed Profile International N.V. The international ambition of the Profile group was the basis to decide to become actively involved in the European growth markets such as Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

Profile has refined the current assortment and expanded it with new formulas. One example is the minority interest in GlasGarage B.V. by Profile Tyrecenter as of 1 January 2005. This strategy anticipates an intense cooperation between both chains in order to be able to offer the market for private and business drivers, as well as the fleet and lease market even more and improved better service.

Initiated by the request for modern and brand independent tyre management, Profile International established a new pan-European service chain by the name of Tymacon (Tyre Management Contracts) in 2006. Tymacon enters into all-inclusive tyre management contracts with national and international fleets, all over Europe. ‘The correct tyre on the correct axle position and the correct service at the correct moment’ is the essence of Tymacon.

Latest developments

On annual basis the Profile International N.V. Customer Services Center (CSC) in Antwerp, quickly serves over thousands of trucks with tyre trouble in Europe to be mobile once again. The CSC is also the central report centre for private fleet owners and business drivers. The fleets vary from passenger cars to vans, busses and trucks, from industrial to agricultural vehicles. The CSC ensure the complete coordination and processing of the maintenance contracts and is as such a vital link between customers and the Profile Tyrecenter, abc Autoservice and 1,2,3/// AutoService networks.

In 2006, Profile International took over the chain 1,2,3/// AutoService. 1,2,3/// AutoService is a national maintenance chain of the best BOVAG (ABA) car companies, specialised in maintenance and repair of business vehicles. The chain complies with the highest requirements, set by lease drivers, lease companies and fleet owners.

Masters4Fleets.com is the new Profile International N.V fleet management portal. The Masters4Fleets.com fleet concepts create a clear and complete view of the possibilities and advantages for each fleet. In a personalised web environment, a quick and complete overview is given in relation to the status of the service of the selected vehicles.

In 2007 Profile International recruited Patrick Ledegang as its CFO. The organisation is jointly managed by him and by Luc van Bussel, CEO.

Mid 2007, Profile International N.V. added a new formula to the organisation. abc Autoservice is a high-quality modern and brand independent car service formula, which apart from preventive car maintenance also focuses on replacement of worn parts.

Profile International's dynamic development is unique in the automotive market. By anticipating the requirements and preferences of customers and market, Profile International N.V. will – now and in the future – continue to guarantee a streamlined mobility across Europe.
