In 1988 Will Stoof of Stoof Autobanden, Jaap Kossen of Kossen de Bandenman and Martin van Wijk of De Hoeve Bandentechniek took the initiative to investigate the feasibility of a possible cooperation. How could tyre service companies make a combined effort in an ever changing market? How could tyre service companies provide e.g. service at European level for customers such as transportation companies?

Many experts in various fields were approached, as well as other tyre service companies. After they had investigated a number of aspects, they decided to invite René van Maasakkers, student at the University of Tilburg, to research amongst other the developments on the market for trucks tyres. The commercial cooperation Tyrecenter was the subject of René’s final thesis.

Soon other tyre companies which had a strong regional representation were involved as well and on 10 August 1989, the cooperation Profile Tyrecenter was established. From the beginning Profile Tyrecenter appeared to fill a need.
